It is said that 1 in 4 adults in the United States are diagnosed with a mental illness. For many people, diagnosis brings with it a loss of identity, hopes, dreams, and goals. The Recovery Empowerment Network is a non-profit organization in Phoenix, Arizona dedicated to serving individuals labeled as “mentally ill.” Our mission is to encourage people to recover from the stigma of mental illness and become who they once aspired to be. With the use of self-assessment tools, such as the Dewey Color System, the people we serve have begun to reconnect with their former selves and go after their hopes and dreams once again. We truly appreciate the opportunity to share this tool with the members of our organization and have enjoyed watching them become whole again. “In a preliminary survey group there was an amazing correlation between what the Dewey Color System evaluation identified and Children's psychological issues. Issues such as abandonment, sexual abuse, social skills problems, attention deficit disorders, emotional abuse and others rise to the top through this unique evaluation system.”

— James D. Meffen III, M.S.Ed.

“It was uncanny how problems with abuse, depression and low self esteem all displayed themselves through this system.”
